Mama, I Want To Come Home (For Little Bee)

Mama, these men, they think I am made of steel
flesh and blood you gave me and a throbbing heart
rough diamond in dirt, you hid me well from the world
but they found me, they dug me out and they hurt me.
Mama, I want to come home to your love and anger
Will you make me balls of rice and talk some sense
because the world does't comprehend me now.

Two Hearts Full

He was there! In that magical moment
making the winds sing while stars wept
The magician, he summoned our souls
and conjured a perfect summer dream;
the moon went swirling across the skies
a fire burnt within the two lonely hearts
there was a desire so deep and so dark
nothing survived but a delicate streak
and traces of a rare, enchanting memory.

The Pipal Tree

Lately she has been missing a tree; a great big tree with a magnificent spirit. It usurped from memory one late afternoon without warning.
Imposing, graceful, noble; it was her first real encounter with grandiosity
before she came to understand the concept of infinity
in her little uncertain world, it was a symbol of constancy.

Her own sentinel, guardian angel who watched with a weary heart as she weaved her dreams, played her endless games. She remembers the delicate, heart shaped leaves gently swaying
to the music of cool, enticing early spring breeze.
She wonders if the secrets are still safe within the hollows
if the ghosts still giggle at the thought of the silly child who
used to lie under the night skies singing with the universe
as the stars twinkled from above through the thicket of branches.

As she did with the purest of hearts, I too wish tonight upon shooting stars .. intent on making this one dream come true .. intensely with my whole heart!

Afternoon Nap

Every single afternoon nap I have ever taken
results in a recurring theme; like a simple story
unfolding within its own self, discovering a new depth
every time it is retold. It morphs, twists and turns
casts prismatic hues, hurls sharp dazzling crystals.
Truth plays with shadows, thin air sparks into hopes
devilish characters in masks break into sweetest smiles
while strange apparitions burst into shimmering waves.

I wake up in utter distress, complete incoherence
while the world watches me in total nonchalance.
Perhaps it is because we travel the edges of a realm
that is entirely different from our nightly journeys?
Almost nonexistent slumber-land bordering oblivion
where we are summoned to play slightly mad games
wield powers, wager spirited wars and control courses
lose reason, bask in the glory of our super ego, the id
temporarily thrown into a wondrous world without words
and then we wake up, nothing but us remains changed.
Nobody ever remembers the bliss but the traces remain
slow but eventual return to the mundane routine of life
and people sulk without even realizing why and what for!

Trust and Truce

You remember that particular, precipitous evening
when lavender skies shone through white windows?
There were birds, whispering flowers and winter chills
twinkling bangles, twirling dreams and twilight songs.
There were also those scents that spun ecstatic stories
there was a feeling of wonder, worship and erratic sighs
there was the splendor that inspired dreamless stupors
and the bejeweled princess ruled the rest of the night!

Why? That question doesn't have a meaning nor a chance!
What? The mere thought of two mortals in purest harmony
How? You and I! the milky way sings us a waltz and we dance!
Where? In the charm, the smile, the allure and the mystery
When? Eons will pause and listen to this incredulous journey!

But before that, my knight, I must ask you to grant me a wish
a wish of trust and truce! You have to trust life and its promises
You must believe in me! You must relinquish past associations
you must come to realize the orgiastic dream so close within reach!

My Verses

Are golden yellow threads that intertwine universes
they fly me on the shimmering blue wings of swallows
show me moon dreams, smile silky mimosa blooms
and they play with me under starlit summer skies.
They appear at random, defy my own stubborn will.
They unite me with an omnipotent source, the sacred Word;
its archaic meaning is beyond human comprehension
yet its simple rich sound evokes memories of a past,
of a distant planet where simple raw emotions exist.
The word sets the night on fire and ignites soulful passion
a deep hum resonates in the future, a billion years away!

Silence

It grips the soul and a stifled heart sprees
a dull gray shadow runs across the horizon
thick smoky blue fog rises above the trees
a dark force glints in those eyes of poison
without warning, it descends upon the world.

Walking Together

Why have not I ever noticed this before?
The elegant beauty of such a simple act
unassuming yet an intimate expression
A man and woman walking hand in hand.

High

Yes, I am high! So high that I can't fathom the depth of the chasm below
and there is a hidden passage into the secret world that none ever knew
a soft kiss on my tender lips and the skies shall reflect softer hues of dew!
At your command the starlight shall dance with the sweet scented bloom
a flick of your finger and I go flying down to meet my predestined doom
the beautiful depth of your voice, sonorous and rich, it summons a gloom
O, my cruel lord, so great is the the law that governs this delicate dream!

Did you know I once was the queen of enchanting lands and lovers?
I was the myth, the poor Nile was a mere tear and I wielded powers?
so great was my magic that the West bowed and the East adored?
that I was the the universe and when I laughed the world cowered?
How does it matter now? I choose you. I choose to lose. I choose my heart!
Within you I shall repose! Without you I shall cease! A respite and reprieve!

I Wished On The Moon For You

Lady Day sang in a jazzy whisper from the past
and you appeared from the shores of blue mist
into my private dream world, the dim glow cast
as I watched in silent mistrust shrouded in lust.

You reached under the table and tickled my toes
with a pleading twinkle in your deep brown eyes
Please adore him! Please admire him! she said
in a translucent dazzle of a voice and I listened.

Oh, how I wish I did not! Oh, I wish I were free
I wish I could fly away from this passion spree
wish I had moments that did not simply flee
wish I could grin wide with wonder and glee.
I wish I had rhyme and reason without you!

Transience

A tender, soft, soothing .. worshipful exchange
sensual, lush, lascivious, longing lips interlocked
transmigration of souls .. intermingling of dreams!
Prelude to a fantastical dream .. a wistful song ..
out of the blue shadows, emerges the great humanity
in pure desolate pursuit! Once again, never to learn.
the bow moves and the violin weeps! Heaven?

A sigh, a gesture and a gaze! An outstretched hand
so physical and metaphorical; at once bewildering!
Within deep, passion flares in flickering tongues
and the distance melts into a union so perfect
that the soul perched on the mountain hearkens
and a tormenting realization transpires in space
sharp, piercing, strong and merciless; closed eyes.

Is it wise to fight the natural, cosmic order? She accepts
the transience of such magnificent, mythical moment!
Who was it that said, A woman's desire is her own demise?
and that the greatest curse is that one shall remain isolated
even in the most intimate of moments? She understands
strange as it may seem, such is the fate of her race!

Kindness

The man named Go smiled
a patient, kind, simple smile
he shook my hand very gently
and he listened to me carefully
with a tilt to his head and a hand 0n his hip.

A beautiful acceptance without judgments
corners of his narrowed eyes shone empathy
and a slight frown spoke many unsaid words.
In a whispering tone he said, life is a journey

I am thankful for the kindness of this stranger
and I wonder what happened to the rest of us
how did we forget to be kind, gentle and loving?

Power

I am reading while waiting for the hair place to open
I look up as this woman pulls into the space across.
She has a beautiful face; tanned skin, big expressive eyes
high brow, arched eye brows and a strong, defined nose
She resembles a handsome, powerful Inca goddess.
Does she realize how beautiful she is? I wonder.

Delicate morning rays illuminate her dark irises
and I can't look away .. her eyes draw me closer
she is talking to somebody on her cell phone
I can't hear what she is saying but I guess
an argument is in order for sure, I can tell
she wears a serious, contemplative look
oblivious of me prying on her private moment.

A few moments pass; obviously not getting through;
her brow is now knitted and the frustration shows
she starts to chew on her lower lip in silence
and I can see the little quiver in her left cheek
tears start to brim .. liquid pools in her amber eyes
she is trying very hard to hold back .. I feel her pain.

And then suddenly, she smiles .. the most beautiful,
radiant smile I have ever seen .. and tears stream down
she is now laughing and crying, appears inexplicably happy.
I am befuddled yet feel her happiness, it feels wonderful
It is like the refreshing cool wind after the first spring rain ..

I can't help but wonder what he said on the other end
Who is this man? and how did he make a crying woman laugh?
He holds the key to a woman's heart! Does he realize how much power he has?

Moonlit Shadows

They swing and sway as the night wears on
some say a dream is but a potent memory.
A collective one, perhaps?
You remember walking down those paths?
This most certainly is a unfamiliar realm
one in which illusions transpire into reality
and you choose to believe in the impossible.

Mad Dance

The desert wind trembles wisps of chill
a little quiver, a delicate shiver of thrill .
In front of me lay the immense desert
an ocean of sand grains twinkling twilight
each tiny prism preserving a grain of universe.

A sad full moon rises over the steely horizon
a smooth rustle, silky slither of deadly poison
a frosty forbidding silence rules this dominion.
A majestic desert creature flies across the blues
spread wings, the adobe around the moon flutters.

Someone afar sings a ballad so beautiful, it hurts
in a tongue so ancient and so fragile, it comforts.
A theme of intimacy and intrigue; a tale of strangers,
of intertwined heartstrings and mysterious desires
and the pain transpires through the moonlit mirages.

And somewhere else in the shadow of another dune
another dances.. a mad dance to the tune of a raging fire
My heart! My heart .. it starts to beat .. move .. melt
hypnotic, melancholic, powerful .. at once all consuming.
The rhythm invites me to be with the force and I obey!
