I Wished On The Moon For You

Lady Day sang in a jazzy whisper from the past
and you appeared from the shores of blue mist
into my private dream world, the dim glow cast
as I watched in silent mistrust shrouded in lust.

You reached under the table and tickled my toes
with a pleading twinkle in your deep brown eyes
Please adore him! Please admire him! she said
in a translucent dazzle of a voice and I listened.

Oh, how I wish I did not! Oh, I wish I were free
I wish I could fly away from this passion spree
wish I had moments that did not simply flee
wish I could grin wide with wonder and glee.
I wish I had rhyme and reason without you!

Transience

A tender, soft, soothing .. worshipful exchange
sensual, lush, lascivious, longing lips interlocked
transmigration of souls .. intermingling of dreams!
Prelude to a fantastical dream .. a wistful song ..
out of the blue shadows, emerges the great humanity
in pure desolate pursuit! Once again, never to learn.
the bow moves and the violin weeps! Heaven?

A sigh, a gesture and a gaze! An outstretched hand
so physical and metaphorical; at once bewildering!
Within deep, passion flares in flickering tongues
and the distance melts into a union so perfect
that the soul perched on the mountain hearkens
and a tormenting realization transpires in space
sharp, piercing, strong and merciless; closed eyes.

Is it wise to fight the natural, cosmic order? She accepts
the transience of such magnificent, mythical moment!
Who was it that said, A woman's desire is her own demise?
and that the greatest curse is that one shall remain isolated
even in the most intimate of moments? She understands
strange as it may seem, such is the fate of her race!
